The number of e-mail messages you can store in your U-Mail account is governed
by your mail storage limit. Undergraduate accounts have a storage allotment
of 200 megabytes (MB). Graduate accounts have a mail quota of 300 MB.
You can review your current mail storage use via our
Account Information tool.
As you approach your mail storage limit, your mailer will notify you
of your usage. Once you exceed your storage limit you will not receive any
further mail until you delete messages from your mail folders.
Hints on managing mail storage:
- messages containing attachments tend to be large; once you've
downloaded the attachment you can delete the message from your account
- jokes, stories, etc. are often large in size; you might consider
deleting them after you've gotten your laugh
- messages that you've sent are stored in your sent-mail folder
take up a considerable amount of space; consider removing older sent-mail
