All messages delivered via U-Mail are scanned for viruses as they pass
through the system, whether inbound or outbound. Any message
containing a virus is removed from the delivery process and quarantined.
Unfortunately, we cannot notify a sender if they have sent a message
containing a virus. Nor can we notify a potential recipient if a message
destined for their account contained a virus. As such, it is the
responsibility of the sender to maintain anti-virus software on their
personal machines and scan their systems for viruses on a regular basis.
Also, if a message you send is quarantined because it's infected
we will not be able to retrieve the message for you. Copies of messages
you've sent are available in your sent-mail folder.
Note that WebAccess and other
webmail systems are not vulnerable to e-mail virus transmission.
Target systems are traditionally Windows operating systems using
Outlook
and
Eudora
mail clients; if you are using one of these mail programs you must be
extra vigilant for viruses.
We hope you find this feature beneficial. Contact the
Help Desk
if you have any questions about our virus scanning service.
