False U-mail Warning

There is currently a bug we are working on where students may see a warning from the Registrar or in Identity Manager that they do not have U-mail. Please ignore these warnings. Every student who activates a UCSB netid gets an account at gmail. You can log into gmail with your netid@ucsb.edu and your UCSB password. A U-mail alias is automatically added to your account and your default email is set to netid@umail.ucsb.edu

Changes to Microsoft Office 365 Login

Dear UCSB students,

Microsoft Student Advantage Program available now

U-Mail is pleased to announce the availability of the Microsoft Student Advantage Program for all UCSB students. Student Advantage enables you to install and use Microsoft Office for either Mac or Windows at no cost while you are an actively enrolled student at UCSB. The Student Advantage program includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and a few others. This service is the result of an enterprise agreement between Microsoft and UCSB.

U-Mail Service Platform Upgrade - Nov 21st

Next Thursday, the 21st of November, our U-Mail service platform (based on Microsoft Office 365) will be undergoing an upgrade. The updated platform provides a number of new features, primarily to the WebAccess interface, and addresses a number of long standing feature-requests.

Unplanned Service Outage - 3/18

The UCSB Campus Network suffered an unexpected outage due to a failed piece of network equipment that resulted in blocking access to U-Mail from 7:14 to 8:36am.

Planned Campus Network Outage - 3/27

The UCSB Campus Network has a planned service outage from 6:00 - 7:00am on Tuesday 3/27, during this time access to U-Mail will be disrupted.

Unexpected Outage 5/16/12

U-Mail suffered an unexpected outage affecting about 20% of our accounts. Service was interrupted at 9:00pm and restored at approximately 9:20pm.

Beware Fake E-Mail "Phishing" Scams

We continue to see evidence of e-mail "phishing" scams perpetrated upon U-Mail accountholders. In such scams, messages purportedly sent from UCSB Administration may ask that you reply with your UCSBnetID and Password. Others may ask you to type your password into a Google form or spreadsheet. Some even ask that you download and run identity verification software or risk losing your registration status.
